I wanna be a X-Man

James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender
I never though I'd say that, but I really though Prof. Xavier was sexy in the new X-Men First Class... or worse, I though James McAvoy was sexy, which is even more weird because I usually hate the guy. But his smugness was put to good use in this movie and production made sure to have him shower often enough ( he always seems awfully sweaty in all the other movies I saw him in ).

Michael, Michael... sexy as always. I can't resist a charming polyglot.

Besides the awesome men, I really enjoy this movie because someone made the brilliant decision of paying the good writers. The plot is complex, explain some x-holes ( for example, it explains why Mystique looks so young on the X-Men 3 movie, after she loses her powers, if she's supposed to be almost as old as Magneto ) and the characters are likable, more like real people... er, real mutants, with valid emotions. Well... the villains are hetable, but they're supposed to be, I guess.

Following the example of some other excellent movies, like Watchmen ( and Forest Gump, if I must reckon ), this movie uses historic facts to explain why the X-Men and the Magneto gang become what they become. And I love that. I love that they made reference to the fact that several nazi soldiers and officers hid in Argentina and the south of Brazil, which very few people know, and makes sure that the X-Men are inserted in history, as they would be, if they were real.

If I where a X-Men, I'd like to either fly ( preferably with wings, like Angel, the dude with bird wings, not Angel, the stripped with dragonfly wings ) or have Mystique powers. It does come very handy to be able to change appearances at will, and although I would never join Magneto's gang ( no matter how hot Michael Fassbender is ), I admire her conviction to walk around in her blue skin. It takes some serious girl balls to do so.

The only sad thing is the lack of an extra scene after the credits. Usually those scenes mean there's going to be a follow up, and I do want to see a follow up of X-Men First Class ( and I never though I would advocate for a new X-Men movie after the disaster that were X-Men 3 and the Wolverine movie ). But since this one is awesome ( thank you again writers ) and it will probably be a huge box office success, the greedy will most likely reconsider.
